WE LOVE SF
We had so much fun visiting Landon Dri and Leo in SF this weekend. Riding the cable cars, walking around the city, Golden Gate Bridge gawking, a late night swim competition, macaroon picnic at Alamo square park, art and french fries in Hayes Valley, paddle boating, swirl and dip soft serve and talking conspiracies ...seriously it was just the best weekend ever.

COUCH MAKEOVER part a.
My latest project was making over our ikea karlstad couch.
We both like the simplicity of the karlstad series pieces (and the price tag) and we really love the light tweed-ish "isunda gray" cover. It's durable, removable, washable and stylish. Its a good couch.
Be we had dreams of a more mid century danish feel. The makeover steps were determined and the project began...
a) cover buttons and tuft the couch cushions
b) change out the legs to stained tapered legs.
As of right now I have completed part A, so here's a little tutorial on the first part of the makeover.
First thing is the supplies....
NOTE on the covered buttons: I did those myself. I purchased a spare isunda cushion cover from ikea for the fabric, and I purchased a few covered button kits to make 16 covered buttons. (see links)
Second is doing some middle school math and marking where the buttons go. I marked with pencil just in case I made a mistake and needed to erase and re-mark, which happened a number of times.
Third is actually figuring out how to tuft..I used this youtube video. Its actually pretty easy.

here is the before......
drum roll please.....
So next is PART B of the makeover which is switching out the legs to tapered mid-century style legs. I found this etsy store that sells replacement furniture legs that fit IKEA pieces so I am going to buy them there.
Stay tuned for the final after pictures!
